Not the Best News
Elise was goofing around and hurt her foot. Come to find out - it's broken. Here's some details from an email she sent me.....
"All went bad. very very bad. I have what is called a jones fracture.. It isn't able to heal because in the place the fracture is, there is not enough blood supply to heal. I have two choices. I can completely put no weight on it at all for 6 weeks. (there is a 40% chance that it will not heal)... knowing me, i wont be able to completely not put weight on my foot for 6 weeks. especially when i dont have pain (THEE ONLY plus!) OR choice number two is to have surgery to put a screw in my bone to align it and allow more blood flow, allowing it to heal. this has a 95% heal rate.. If I try to heal it naturally without surgery and it doesn't heal. I have to then have surgery and stay off my foot even longer. :/ I have until tomorrow morning to decide. But I think i am going to go with the surgery..
Other than this little hick-up. My life is fantastic!!"
So - I'm sure she would like some sympathy - maybe a lot of sympathy. I sure would!

This is a picture of Oliver, Jim and Laurie Gilbertsen's youngest grandson. If ever a baby picture could make you smile, this would be the one!

As of Tomorrow
Everyone is finally back at school! Here's the recap, top to bottom:
Amanda is back at MCTC gathering up credits and learning advanced EspaƱol. Ella es una estudiante muy bueno.
Elise returns to Hamline tomorrow where, if you remember, she was on the Dean's List last spring.
Max moved on to Middle School at the American Leadership Academy in San Tan Valley. He is now in 7th grade Honors History - way to go Max! He's lucky to get a ride to school every day with Eric who has a new job as a TA there.
Ellie is in fourth grade at American Leadership Academy and she is a straight A student - her favorite subject is math.
Elizabeth is now in third grade at Westwood Elementary and said she was going to wear her new purple tennies for the first day of school today.
Sam is also in third grade and loves to read. He is also one of ALA's crackerjack spellers!
Jack is a second grader at ALA - he's learning Spanish too!
And things are quiet at the Courtemanche house now that Sofie is officially a kindergartner at ALA. She flings her backpack on her shoulders and goes off with the big kids.
And none of them would be back in school without teachers and David, the teacher in our family, moved to a different location this year. We bought a bunch of pencils for his math students to use.
"Mr. Weisser - I can't do my math - I don't have a pencil!"
There are 341 sharpened pencils just waiting in the wings for that excuse!
Tomorrow a story about my school years!
